Kevin and Cheryl Vogel have nurtured Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden that Kevin’s father Donald Vogel created 70 years ago. The art that is offered for sale at this gallery draws from the last seven decades and exhibits leading current artists. The gallery is beloved for both its art, its gallerist, and the beautiful gardens that are kept open to the public. It is a fabulous expression of Dallas aesthetics and generosity.

Megan and Bryan Fears were the hit of the party at the Brown Jordan design studio in the Design District launching the fall issue of D Home. Their home was on the cover and included in a fabulous article describing their approach to renovating this architecturally significant home by architect Howard Meyer.

Wilson Fuqua is best known for the renovation and preservation design he has done on many of the most important historic and architecturally significant homes in Highland Park. He has also designed over 25 new homes in the finest neighborhoods of Dallas. It is always a treat to visit with Wilson about Dallas, Highland Park, architecture or life in general. He is a great asset to Dallas, and today it was fun to see him work, creating space within the four walls of the original structure that I did not think was possible.

Garland Road, beyond the Arboretum, for years was only known for having Richardson Bike Mart and Barbec’s across the street. In the last few years, there has been a proliferation of fashionable bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Ascension Coffee at 9353 Garland Road is another addition to the neighborhood that provides great coffee and delectable food. The high vaulted wood and steel ceilings and long open space give a hint of the original chapel that inhabited the space.

The generous amount that people in Dallas contribute and the wide range in which they do it never ceases to astound me. Here at the Hyatt Regency Dallas Reunion Ballroom next to Reunion Tower, Blair Pogue and his family were presented with the Children’s Hope Award by Orphan Outreach. The event was headlined by Tony Dungy. Blair Pogue has established over 200 personal relationships with orphans from Latvia to Russia on trips, Zoom calls and correspondence. He gives these orphans more than hope. Blair gives them confidence and optimism as they navigate their future. I am pictured here with Blair Pogue, Cristin Pogue and Tony Dungy.
Tony Dungy won a Superbowl as a player and as a head coach with two different professional teams. He has 12 children, 9 of which he and his wife adopted, along with fostering many other children. He passed on a tradition of Family Day on the Saturday practice before a Sunday game. This tradition of bringing children to practice spread across the NFL as players take their children to the practice before the game.
It was an honor to witness this celebration of Blair Pogue and Orphan Outreach.

When one thinks of Highland Park one thinks of nature as much as the beautiful homes.Armstrong Parkway in Highland Park is the elegant entrance to the most beautiful neighborhoods in Highland Park.
